Issa Rae’s Comedy for HBO Max Titled Rap Sh*t Is Soon to Hit Your Screens

Hollywood writer and producer Issa Rae has recently announced that she is a writer for a new show for HBO Max. The show is titled Rap sh*t, and it follows the lives of two high school friends who return to Miami to form a rap duo. While Rae is the show’s head writer, Syreeta Singleton from Insecure is the showrunner and both of them will be the executive producers alongside two others.

Issa Rae is also going to be starring in the last season of her famous show, Insecure, which was very successful in the previous four seasons. She says she’s looking forward to working on other projects. “I’ve definitely been ready to say goodbye,” Rae said.

“I’ve given so much of myself, and I know that I don’t want to be in another television show that I’ve created, just because it’s so daunting, and it takes so much of your time. I am just kind of trying to figure out balancing the business side and being behind the scenes with how much I actually want to be in front of the camera. I’m figuring that out, and I feel like I’m at another terrifying crossroads of what’s next”.

The cast of rap sh*t includes Love and hip hop star, KaMillion whose character Mia is a single mum trying to juggle three jobs just to make ends meet, Comedian Aida Osman who plays Shawna, an upcoming rapper who works at a hotel, Jonica “Blue” Booth who plays Chastity, a sex work manager. Other cast members include Devon Terrell and Jaboukie Young-White.

The show is scheduled to film officially this summer and we can’t wait to watch the magic Issa and the team have created.
