Derrian Gobourne Launches NFT Collection

NCAA National champion Derrian Gobourne, has announced her partnership with Legacy League- an NFT exchange platform for college athletes and universities-to launch her special NFT releases that are to feature black female gymnastics, titled “Black Girl Magic”.

Derrian Gobourne is a 21-year-old American gymnast and a member of the Auburn Gymnastics team. Also known as “Queen of the Floor”, Gobourne frequently has a full crowd whenever she performs and she remains one of the biggest names in the world of gymnastics.

The Legacy League is a sports NFT exchange organization and platform that links Universities and College athletes with their fans, so as to facilitate the effective collection and exchange of NFTs between both parties. This platform also promotes a healthy relationship between athletes and their fans.

In a press release she made, Derrian Gobourne said, “I am excited to launch my ‘Black Girl Magic’ NFT Collection on the Legacy League platform. Not only do their values align with mine, there is no better time to do it, It’s time to celebrate, congratulate and pay honour and tribute to all of my sisters who have given so much to this sport; I want the world to see them.”

Kurt Hallead, the co-founder of Legacy League contributed to this by saying, “At a time when female student-athletes lag behind their male counterparts in the NIL ecosystem, we are excited to partner with Derrian,  Our collaboration will extend beyond NFTs as Derrian will serve as Legacy League’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ambassador. In this capacity, she will drive engagement with underrepresented athletes across the country as we continue our mission to help every college athlete cement their legacy in the collegiate sports metaverse.”

CEO of Legacy League Stuart Bush, also added “With female athletes accounting for more than 30% of our roster, we are excited to partner with a powerhouse like Derrian who is committed to both growing the participation among gymnasts of colour at all levels of gymnastics, and to helping remarkable female athletes monetize their success in the sport.”

With this development, college athletes can now create their own NFTs for free at Legacy League and make about 75% of what they sell. This is big news for black female athletes.
