Fatoumata Ba is a Senegalese Venture Capitalist and Entrepreneur. She is currently the founder and Executive Chair of Janngo and a Managing partner of Janngo Capital.

Fatoumata Ba is passionate about women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment in Africa especially by the aid of technology, SMEs growth and also health and education issues.

Education

Fatoumata Ba got a Masters in Management, Strategy, Marketing and Finance from TBS Education – ESC Toulouse. She did her program study abroad in China with a thesis on Competition and Strategic Alliances.  In 2019, she took a course on Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century. Fatoumata Ba is fluent in 5 languages including Arabic, Chinese, English, French and German.

Career

Fatoumata Ba started her career as far back as 2007 when she worked as an Account Manager and Business Developer for Index Multimedia.  She worked for less than a year at Index Multimedia and in 2008 began working for France Telecom first as a Sales Advisor and eventually as a Business Analyst. After this, she worked as a Senior Consultant of Strategy and Innovation for Atos Consulting for 3 years before beginning her work at Jumia. She is the Founder and CEO of Jumia Cote d’Ivoire and also worked as the Managing Director at Jumia Nigeria from 2015 – 2016. She was a part of the Jumia Group Executive Committee (Africa, Paris and Dubai) from 2016 – 2017. Fatoumata is also the Founder and CEO of Jumia Ivory Coast. While at Jumia, she has driven the performance of 130+ operations across Africa and has created opportunities for more than 500,000 SMEs across more than 30 countries in Africa.

In April 2018, Fatoumata Ba founded Janngo. Janngo builds, grows and invests in pan-African digital companies that have proven business models and inclusive social impact. It provides support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and contributes to women and youth empowerment through job creation and capacity building. Presently, she is the executive Chair of Janngo. Fatoumata Ba is also a Managing Partner at Janngo Capital, the venture capital arm of Janngo.

Awards and Recognition

Fatoumata Ba has received the Aenne Burda Award for visionary leadership, optimism and courage. She was also listed as one of Forbes 30 under 30 and Choiseul 100 Africa Economic Leaders of Tomorrow. She is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. She serves on the Board of SouthBridge Investment Bank, the Council of Women in Africa and the Global Future Council on the New Economic Agenda of the World Economic Forum. She is also on the Board & Investment Committee of Creadev Africa.
