Emma Raducanu is a British professional tennis player, who is currently ranked No 18 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, and No 1 in Britain.
She is the current US Open Champion and the second British woman to ever win a Grand Slam title. The 19-year-old was born in Toronto, Canada, and was raised in London.
She made her first WTA tour in 2021 and has since reached the fourth stage of her first major tournament since her career’s debut.
Emma Raducanu’s Parents
Emma Raducanu’s father, Ian Raducanu is Romanian, while his wife Renee is Chinese. They both work as finance executives and the family resides in Bromley, South-east London.
During her interview after her Opening, she says “I speak to my parents, we don’t really talk so much about tennis but they just really want to know how I am in these moments and, you know, to not have them here with me, I would have loved them to be here and we can all celebrate together or they could be with me and experience the same things but you know, they’re watching from home very proud.”
Her parents were quite instrumental to her tennis career, as they enrolled her in the Bromley Tennis academy when she was five. Although she dabbled in a lot of other sports as well, she found her love in tennis after idolizing Li Na. Her dad is still actively involved in her coaching, as he advises on her team as well.
