What is the Meaning of Rosalia’s G3 N15?

“I’m in a place where I wouldn’t take you,” Rosalie tells nephew in G3 N15 track

In 2018, Spanish singer Rosalia made waves with her debut album, El Mal Querer- and she has since then, risen to popularity and clinched on to superstar status.

Today, Rosalia’s highly-anticipated second album, Motomami, is here.

The Spanish singer and her own unique style of flamenco-inspired pop fused with R&B have been accepted around the world by fans from many different cultures and continents.

Rosalie continues her new album, Motomami, in this same unique style of hers, fusing pop and R&B- but then, she adds something extra special to it, in her G3 N15 track.

The very emotional ballad in this track has piqued the interest of fans around the world- including the non-Spanish-speaking fans.

For some English speakers, they do not mind that they do not have an understanding of the wordings of the music and the overall message, they enjoy it all the same.

But many other listeners often wish for a translation to the lyrics, because they want to flow better with the artist.

For those curious about what Rosalia’s G3 N15 track is saying, here you go:

In the first verse of the song, the artist opens with a sad tone as she sings: “Will you forgive me for what I’ve missed? It’s two years now. You’re already ten, almost eleven. Were your eyes sky blue or aquamarine blue?”

The second verse is mournful and even more sorrowful than the first: “And I have to be where I don’t want to be, this ain’t “El Mal Querer”, it’s a bad desire. I’m in a place where I wouldn’t take you. No one at peace here between stars and needles. Marble stars cut into the floor. Foilies all over the street where the models stroll by.”

The chorus then says: “Tracks on the arms, points on the stars. I don’t want to bring you, so you’ll never come.”

Fans are interested in the meaning, one of them even tweeted, “I really want to know the meaning of G3 N15, like it’s definitely the most personal song on Motomami but who is it about? I have so many questions,”

Rosalia is singing about missing her nephew throughout the pandemic years.

She speaks about the sad realities and describes Los Angeles as a place she would protect her 10-year-old nephew from because it is filled with “stars and needles,” with “models stroll[ing] by.”

She said, “I’m in a place where I wouldn’t take you.”

Rolling Stone reports that although the song is spelled out as ‘G3 N15’, the title of the song is supposed to read as ‘Genis’.

The song ends with a voice note from an older family member, explaining the importance of family.
