The Legacy of Gina Lollobrigida: From Cinema to TV Roles and Beyond

Gina Lollobrigida was a high-profile figure in cinema throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and her biggest films included The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Beautiful But Dangerous.

She appeared on screen opposite stars such as Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, and Rock Hudson. She was often described as “the most beautiful woman in the world” and was considered to be one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of cinema.

In the 1980s, Lollobrigida returned to the screen with guest parts in TV shows like Falcon Crest and The Love Boat, as well as the occasional Italian film. Her role in Falcon Crest was particularly memorable, and she was at her most  Interestingly, the role had originally been written for fellow Italian star Sophia Loren.

Lollobrigida’s turn dancing the Tarantella as Francesca Gioberti in Falcon Crest is a standout moment in her career. She appeared in five episodes of the show in late 1984. Her performance was a testament to her versatility as an actress, and it showcased her ability to bring humour and camp to her roles.

She passed away on January 16, 2023, at the age of 95
