Michigan six year old girl that reportedly slid down a cement bank into the river while playing with a nine year old is yet to be found.
Similarly, a day before this incident, a young boy was reported to have drowned in the same river.
This was disclosed by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson in a video post via his Facebook account on Monday.
He revealed that the search and rescue crews in Michigan are continuing the search for the young girl who fell into the Flint River.
According to Swanson, the girl slid down a cement bank into the river while playing with a nine-year-old, and was able to climb out, but she went underwater while the river was “moving five to eight miles per hour.”
“The problem with this river is that it’s so dangerous and it’s filled with hazards, trees, and water that goes under the banks where a body can hide and rest,” explained Swanson in the video.
The sheriff stated that the search for the young girl is a “long-term commitment,” noting that some of the resources involved include boats, drones, and a helicopter.
He pointed out that the search for the young girl is “far more dangerous and more difficult” due to it being in a moving body of water.
Swanson further reiterated the rescue team’s commitment in finding the young girl, saying, “We’re in it for the long hall whether it be hours, days, or weeks.”
