Bella Ramsey On Overcoming Anorexia and Finding Inner Strength

Bella Ramsey, the English actress who rose to fame for her role in the HBO series “Game of Thrones” and “The Last of Us,” has been open about her struggles with anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder characterized by food restriction, low weight, anxiety about gaining weight, body image disturbance, and a strong desire to be thin.

Ramsey revealed her diagnosis of anorexia nervosa in October 2018, via a Twitter thread, on World Mental Health Day. She stated that the illness had a hold of her for a year or so before her diagnosis.

Ramsey talked about how difficult mental health issues can be to deal with and the internal battle that always trumps the external. She further claimed that what helped her the most had been her path toward finding Jesus.

Ramsey has been working towards living a healthier lifestyle both physically and mentally. She sought treatment to address the root cause of her eating disorder and has not updated her followers since then. However, her active presence on social media and Instagram posts suggest that she has since recovered and is healthy.

In an interview with The New York Times, the now 20-year-old actress admitted that her faith is “a lot quieter” now than it was in the past. Despite Christianity playing a significant role in her life before, it has shifted in her personal life.

Ramsey’s openness about her struggles with anorexia nervosa has helped raise awareness about mental health issues and eating disorders. Her story is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health and that seeking help is a sign of strength.
