Ayo Edebiri was born in Boston on October 3, 1995, to a Barbadian mother and a Nigerian father. Raised in a Pentecostal household, her passion for comedy blossomed during an eighth-grade drama class. She further honed her skills by joining the improv club at Boston Latin School. Initially pursuing a teaching career at New York University, she later switched her major to Dramatic Writing. It was during her junior year that she embarked on a comedy journey, interning at the esteemed Upright Citizens Brigade. It was during this time that she had the pleasure of meeting her future collaborators, Rachel Sennott and Emma Seligman, while enrolled as a student.
