The character of Diane Jenkins had previously died in 2011, but she has suddenly made a reappearance in the 49th season of the show.

The producers of the show, Walter and CBS, are yet to reveal the reason why the character has returned to the show.
Perhaps as the story goes on, we may get an answer soon.
