Vesper in This Is Us Is the Same As James Bond’s Casino Royale

Rebecca a cast in the US drama mentions “vesper” with the beverage in the penultimate episode of This is Us episode, and it’s got everyone wondering what vesper really is.

Rebecca’s final train journey honours her life in the penultimate episode of This Is Us. Rebecca is seen as a younger incarnation on a train excursion, which is one of her favourite childhood memories.

Rebecca meets William on the train and recalls how her father used to order a vesper every time they travelled by train together. She finally gets to test the drink herself later in the episode when she arrives at the train’s bar to discover Dr K making drinks.

The ‘vesper Martini’ is the cocktail Rebbecca describes in This Is Us. The cocktail contains gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc, a French wine-based aperitif. A twist of lemon peel is typically added to the drink as a garnish.

In a cocktail shaker, add the gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc and shake for about 15 seconds to produce the drink. After the drink has been chilled, strain it into a Martini glass and enjoy.

While This Is Us viewers would recognize the cocktail because of the word “vesper,” James Bond enthusiasts will also recognize it.

Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond spy novels, created the cocktail, which was originally described in his 1953 classic novel Casino Royale.

The vesper Martini became popular in the franchise because of Bond’s famous “shaken, not stirred” phrase about how he likes his cocktail made.

According to BBC Good Food, shaking the drink causes the drink’s flavours to open up.

Lovers of this drama have claimed they will be sipping a “vesper” while enjoying the show!
