The Offensive Meaning Behind the Viral “Go Go Muyani” TikTok Snippet

Avid users of Tiktok will understand that the snippet of a song is what is used to make the trending TikTok videos.

Songs go viral on Tiktok even though only a small part of it is used in the videos.

Recently, a song has gone viral on Tiktok. It is titled ‘Go Go Muyani’.

With TikTok, all we can hear are snippets of “Go Go Muyani” and everyone has been vibing to it.

However, there is more than meets the eye with this song, as Tiktok users have been advised to research the song before using it for their videos.

The lyrics of the song are actually from 6ix9ine’s song, TATI, which he released in 2018.

The rapper released this track as a part of his debut mixtape DAY69: Graduation Day.

The part of the Tiktok song comes in the second verse and users of Tiktok have pointed out the meaning behind the lyrics to other users:

‘Muyani’ has been identified to be a racial slur and users of the platform have advised people to not use the lyrics or mouth the lyrics.

In one of the comment section where the snippet was used, one person wrote: “Please don’t use this, it’s really offensive.”

Another user commented: “Don’t say this.”

Somebody else pointed out that the song is a slur,  and should “not be put in videos.”

The Muyani term got its racist roots from the Italian word for a black person- translated to mean eggplant.

The slur is spelt as “mulignan” but actually pronounced ‘mou-lin-yan’.

So when 6ix9ine raps “Go, go muli**ane”, he is being racially offensive to African-American people all over the world.
