My Daughter Is More Into ‘Taylor Swift’ Than Princesses – Serena Williams Reveals

Serena Williams has revealed that her eldest daughter isn’t much into fairy tales and princesses, but she sure admires Taylor Swift.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, the tennis star, shared this at the INBOUND event alongside podcast host and editor Kara Swisher about Serena Ventures, the venture capital fund she established in 2017, during HubSpot’s annual gathering in Boston.

Serena mentioned during the discussion that her oldest child doesn’t gravitate towards traditional children’s entertainment.

“My daughter just turned 7. She’s not into princesses, she’s into Taylor Swift,” Williams said, adding, “I am, too.”

The 42-year-old athlete shares daughters Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., 7, and Adira River Ohanian, 1, with her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

She also talked about the challenges of raising two young girls with all of the “negative energy out there.”

“It’s a scary world. It’s a digital world for kids right now. I’m always on with my daughter, but we don’t allow her on certain platforms,” Williams said.

“It’s so interesting that with everything available online and kids’ access — in a second, you never know what can come to them,” the Olympic gold medalist added.

“Like I said, I’m trying to think positively. I feel like we might try to take it slow with her and go a little bit slower with electronics and just let her be a kid for as long as you can.”

Even after stepping away from tennis in 2022, the Wyn Beauty founder continues to apply the lessons she learned from the sport daily.

“Being a champion means recognizing that you won’t be at your best daily. It’s impossible to win every day. I need to remind myself of this,” shared Williams.

“It’s all about giving your utmost in whatever you do, just giving your best on that particular day. Some days, you’ll excel more than others.

“Some days, just getting out of bed is a significant achievement. You must give your all based on what you can offer on that day.”
