Lagos Living: My Just Afang Review

I have been meaning to try Just Afang for ages, and so when my friend, Demilade suggested one Saturday that we drive to Lekki Phase 1 to have lunch, after completing the canopy walk at Lekki Conservation Centre, I happily suggested Just Afang.

Just Afang is located at 12 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1 and is owned by popular comedienne, Wofai Fada. I am such an avid follower of Wofai, and I had always told myself that I would visit Just Afang to have a taste of their food.

Anyways, I and my friend Demilade set out for the restaurant. We got there at just about past 5pm. The restaurant was beautiful, and I totally loved the view of the Atlantic ocean from my seat.

The sitting area is upstairs while the staff and most likely the kitchen is downstairs. When we got upstairs we had to wait about 5 minutes for someone to come upstairs and attend to us.

First, I think someone needs to be stationed upstairs because apart from us, there were about two other people who came and waited about 10 minutes before someone came to take their orders, all this while they kept asking us about who would take their orders.

Anyway, we placed our orders. I ordered fufu and fisherman soup, while my friend ordered yam porridge. The waiter assured us that our food would be ready in 30 minutes. Apparently, it had to be made from scratch. We were very hungry, but we could manage the 30 minutes wait time. The time was 5:24 pm by now.

45 minutes into waiting, our food had not yet been brought. It was past 6pm and nobody had come up to assure us that the food was going to be brought anytime soon.

At 6:30pm, the man who took our orders came to tell us that the meal would soon be ready. Soon be ready? My friend who was angry by now, ( a hungry man is an angry man ) told the waiter that if the food wasn’t brought in 5 minutes, we would leave. 15 minutes later, our food arrived at almost 7pm.

How was the food? Well, my friend didn’t like his porridge and my soup was just too oily. Did I mention that a plate of food there costs N4000? Actually it would be a fair price if we were getting the right customer service. I honestly feel that Just Afang can do better especially for that price.
