“It Is Not Good For Man To Be Alone” Is Not A Marriage But Feminist Text

This is why I love my conversation with Jumoke Adenowo. Because it gives me revelation, it teaches me all the time. She talked about the creation myth in the Christian bible.

One of the things that God says in the Hebrew bible is that “It is not good for man to be alone.” Usually, Christians talk about it in terms of marriage – but who knew it was essentially a feminist text?

It’s essentially this argument that we can not hold down 51% of the global population. We can’t hold them down by denying them oppoortunities, putting obstacles in their way, not educating them, not paying them as much as men, and expect the world to be as beautiful as it can.

“It is not good for man to be alone is not about marriage. Rather, it is not good for man to be alone anywhere. It is not good for the male gender to be lone in the board room. It is not good for the male gender alone to be in governance. It is not good for the male gender alone to be in commerce and trade.”

The spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle says that much of the world is the feminine and masculine finding communion. That communion is the completeness of the world. The world is supposed to be led, built and run by a fusion of the feminine and the masculine. Whenever any of those elements are missing, there is an imbalance, and the world is suffering the consequences therefore of holding women back consciously or unconsciously for the past 6000 years.

It is not good for man to be alone; the world cannot reach its potential if we don’t aggressively and actively unleash the potential of women and girls everywhere.
