Pop sensation Jessie J, real name Jessica Cornish, has announced she’s been diagnosed with early breast cancer.
The “Price Tag” singer shared the news on her Instagram page Tuesday, revealing she will take a break from the spotlight after her upcoming concert to undergo surgery.
Jessie J, known for hits like “Domino” and “Bang Bang,” emphasized the “early” nature of her diagnosis, stating, “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word early.”
She has been undergoing various tests for the past two months, learning of her condition just before the late April release of her single “No Secrets.”
“I just wanted to be open and share it,” she explained, noting that sharing her experiences has helped her in the past.
The Grammy nominee also pointed out the irony of her diagnosis coinciding with the release of “No Secrets” and an upcoming song titled “Living My Best Life.”
The “Flashlight” vocalist confirmed she will have surgery and “disappear for a bit” after her performance at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15.
Despite the challenging news, Jessie J maintained a sense of humor, quipping, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”
She expressed empathy for others facing similar or more difficult health battles, stating, “It breaks my heart that people are going through so much, similar and worse.”
Later, on her Instagram story, Jessie J added, “Just shared something super personal I’ve been holding onto for 9 weeks.
The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and has given me this incredible perspective in this time. But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it, I need a hug.”
According to her website, the European and UK “No Secrets Tour 2025” is still scheduled to begin in late summer, with the first show in Amsterdam.
