Katie Thurston, known from “The Bachelorette,” has shared a difficult update on her ongoing battle with Stage 4 breast cancer, revealing that she’s experiencing hair loss and memory problems as side effects of her treatment.
Thurston, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in February and later learned it had spread to her liver (Stage 4), posted a video over the weekend to give her followers an honest look at her condition.
“I just finished my second month of treatment, and if you’re asking how long treatment is — technically, forever,” she said in the video.
The reality star also noted her hair is “coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps” and that she’s “losing my memory.” She shared a surprising example, saying she couldn’t remember where she was coming from when asked at customs.
Thurston also explained that she’s at a point where she needs to make “big decisions” about treating the cancer in her liver. She added that she “might have to get [her] ovaries taken out” because current medications aren’t effectively controlling her hormones.
Despite these challenges, she jokingly acknowledged National Cancer Survivors Day, saying, “Every day that I’m alive, I’m a survivor. So go me, I guess.”
