Biography of Hayley Arceneaux – The Youngest American to Reach Space

Hayley Arceneaux was born on 4th December 1991, in the United States of America, to Howard Arceneaux and Colleen Arceneaux. She grew up in Louisiana, and when she was 10 years old, she got diagnosed with osteosarcoma, the most common type of bone cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital took over her treatment and care, administering over a dozen chemotherapy and carrying out a limb-preservation surgery with knee replacement and putting in a titanium rod in her thigh, alongside physical therapy.

Fortunately for Hayley, she survived the experience. The entire experience made Hayley want to work with other cancer patients and now, she works as a physician assistant with patients who have leukaemia and lymphoma.

Hayley Arceneaux is currently an employee at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a bone cancer survivor, and a private astronaut/physician assistant.

Today, she will join Billionaire Jared Isaacman on SpaceX’s first private spaceflight inspiration4 scheduled to happen today. Hayley is making history as the youngest American to make it to space. She will serve as the Chief medical officer on the spaceship. Hayley will also be the first person to launch into space with a prosthesis.

She has taken part in a few pre-space activities, like climbing up Mount Rainier with the rest of the Inspiration4 team. Other members on the Inspiration4 team to launch today are Christopher Sembroski, Sian Proctor, and Jared Isaacman. The mission is aimed to raise awareness for St. Jude children’s hospital, generating more than $100 million.
