2025 Emmy Nominations: Surprises and Snubs

The 2025 Emmy nominations have been revealed, and there are plenty of surprises and snubs to discuss. Leading the pack is the series “Severance” with an impressive 27 nods, followed by “The Penguin” with 24 nominations and “The Studio” and “The White Lotus” tied at 23 nods each. Notably, “The Studio” matched a previous record for most nominations for a comedy series in a single year.

One notable snub was Selena Gomez being left out of the Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category, despite her show “Only Murders in the Building” receiving a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. On the other hand, Beyoncé received two nods for her halftime show during Netflix’s NFL game on Christmas Day.

“The White Lotus” received mixed results with the cast not dominating the acting categories as much as expected. While some actors like Walton Goggins and Parker Posey received nominations, others like Michelle Monaghan and BLACKPINK’s Lisa were left out.

Unexpectedly, Meghann Fahy received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in Netflix’s “Sirens” after her nomination for “The White Lotus” last year. However, Elisabeth Moss missed out on a nomination for the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” earned its first-ever Emmy nod for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, while Netflix’s “The Four Seasons” only scored one nomination for Colman Domingo in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category.

Lastly, Meryl Streep was not recognized in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for her role in “Only Murders,” marking a surprising snub for the acclaimed actress. These nominations set the stage for an exciting awards show, airing live in September.
