Wendy Williams Denies Dementia Diagnosis, Signs Legal Document to End Guardianship

Wendy Williams has officially taken steps to terminate her guardianship while still disputing her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.

The former talk show host reportedly signed an affidavit on Wednesday, asking a judge to dismiss her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, according to sources cited by TMZ.

Insiders from the news outlet claim that Williams, 60, asserts she has “regained capacity” to live independently.

Despite being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) by her doctors in early 2024, she maintains that she does not have the condition.

Additionally, sources indicate that Williams is scheduled for a re-evaluation by a doctor on February 18, which comes almost two weeks after Morrissey requested a new medical examination for her.

The doctor has reportedly been chosen by the attorney that Williams hired to assist her in ending the guardianship.

This decision follows her firing of court-appointed attorney, Linda Redlisky, on January 29.

Furthermore, insiders inform the outlet that Williams’ lawyer intends to file an “Emergency Order to Show Cause” the day after her medical evaluation.

This legal petition will “force the issue” with the judge who will ultimately determine whether Williams’ guardianship should be lifted.
