Tia Mowry has revealed that she and her twin sister, Tamera, aren’t as “close” as they used to be, pointing out that it is ‘normal’.
She explained, “You start as siblings in a household and a family, and as we grow up and start our own families, it is very normal for all of us to take on new roles and responsibilities when it comes to our life.”
This comment came after she discussed their relationship with People on Monday.
The “Sister, Sister” star pointed out that Tamera has her own “family of her own,” making it “normal” and “very natural” for them to concentrate on their individual lives and families.
“There’s so much love there. There’s this beautiful bonding connection that we have that will never leave,” she clarified.
“My sister and I have always been women of inspiration, and we will continue to. And why would that change now?”
Tia, emphasized that the entire situation is “just a part” of life.
“People have started to create their own families. It is what it is and that’s OK,” she said, adding, “There’s no hard feelings.”
Tia made headlines two weeks ago when she shared her struggles with “being alone” and feeling “distant” from Tamera during her divorce from Hardrict.
“It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now,” she mentioned in a preview for her upcoming reality TV show.
After fans reacted strongly to her comments, the actress clarified her statements in an interview with Us Weekly.
“This is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them.
“We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives. That is what that was all about,” she told the outlet.
Tia, who has been dealing with her divorce from Cory Hardrict, expressed that she was struggling with the “transition” and wished her sister could have been there to support her.
“Sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life,” she said
She emphasized that despite the rumors, they share a “beautiful connection” and love each other “very much.”
Tamera, who has children Aden, 11, and Ariah, 9, with her husband Adam Housley, has not yet responded to her sister’s remarks.
The twin sisters gained fame on “Sister, Sister” from 1994 to 1999 and later appeared in various Disney shows and movies before moving into reality TV with “Tia & Tamera.”
