The Difference Between Bloating and Fat

People have always been talking about their weight. It has been a problem in this modern-day and age. With the advent of fast foods that provide a lot of calories in a small meal along with cars that can transport you from one place to another without breaking a sweat, the world has become a couch potato’s paradise.

Bloating is not always caused by weight gain or obesity. It can be caused by excessive gas in the stomach, too much salt intake, food allergies, lactose intolerance.

Fat is an area of the body that stores excess energy from food. The fat cells increase in size as they store more fatty acids. It is important to understand the difference between bloating and fat because people often mistake them as the same.

Bloating can be treated easily by avoiding certain food items that cause it. On the other hand, you cannot ‘avoid’ fat, since it forms a part of your body and you need it to survive.

Bloating is caused when there are excess gases in the stomach causing the abdomen to swell up slightly. It happens to everyone in certain conditions. It is common in people with irritable bowel syndrome and lactose intolerance since they are unable to digest lactose properly.

On the other hand, fat is an area of the body where fatty acids get stored and it is not very easy to get rid of fat. It is important for your physical and sexual health but excessive fat on the stomach can also put you at risk for heart disease and diabetes.

Your stomach swells when you eat large amounts of food in small intervals. This swelling can disappear after 4 to 6 hours. On the other hand, your weight gain might not be reflected in your bloated belly if it is caused by excess sodium or liquids that are trapped in your body.

This can be easily cured by avoiding certain food items like cabbage, beans and corn among others. You cannot cure fat since it forms a part of your body. On the other hand, you can try home remedies for bloating if you feel uncomfortable with the swelling.

What causes fat to accumulate around your stomach?

Too much glucose in the body causes fat to accumulate around the belly. This happens if your body is not efficient enough to use up all of its glucose and it uses fats instead. The rate at which this phenomenon occurs varies from person to person.

A teaspoon of fresh ginger juice mixed with a teaspoon of honey is the best natural remedy for bloating. Having this before bed will help you lose that bloated feeling in no time. You can also add it to your hot water to have it during breakfast or lunch.

Turmeric

This spice is very effective when it comes to dealing with bloating problems. Having a teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed with water can also help you get rid of that bloated feeling.

Exercise

Exercise regularly to avoid bloating. Perform exercises that are gentle on the stomach area like yoga or pilates. Avoid exercising too frequently if your stomach is bloated since it will make the problem worse.

Bloating and fat are two different problems although they may share the same symptoms. Bloating is caused by trapped gases in your stomach while fat can either be accumulated around your abdomen due to high glucose levels or can be a result of muscle growth. If you experience bloating frequently, consider changing your diet and lifestyle habits.
