Today, the South African government recorded the highest number of Corona Virus cases at 1280. This is an increase of 93 from the last recorded cases, with Guateng and Western Cape provinces being the worst hit.
A statement signed by the South African Health Minister, Zwelini Mkhize read,
It is with sadness that we announce the second death of a patient who had tested positive for COVID-19. The 74 year old male had been in ICU and ventilation in a private hospital in Ladysmith.
He had travelled to Kruger National Park with his family and came back with flu like symptoms. He was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on the 27th March 2020.
Across Africa, more cases are showing up. Kenya has 42 confirmed cases, Ethiopia has 21, Uganda has 33, Eritrea has 12, and Nigeria has 110. Libya and Mali have also recorded their first cases.
