Who are Sloane Stephens’s Parents

The parents of American professional tennis player Sloane Stephens are John Stephens and Sybil Smith. From the beginning, John Stephens and Sybil Smith have been incredibly influential in Sloane’s career success.

She was born on 20 March 1993 in Plantation, Florida, to Sybil Smith and John Stephens. Stephens’ mother is Sybil Smith, while her father is John Stephens.

Sybil, Sloane’s mother was a collegiate swimmer who was the first African-American woman to be named a first-team All-American swimmer in Division I. She is a member of the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame and is widely recognized as the greatest swimmer in the university’s history.

In 1994, Sybil got separated from Sloane’s father, John. Sybil and John had one other kid, John Stephens Jr., a TCU football player.

In 1997, Sybil married Sheldon Farrell. Farrell was a competitive recreational tennis player and one of the main inspirations for Sloane getting into tennis. They had a child together, Shawn Farrell who is Sloane’s half-brother and is now a recording artist with Empire Distribution. Stephen’s stepfather, Sheldon, died from cancer in 2007.

Sybil and Sloane continue to be very close to this day, and her mother is frequently seen attending her tennis competitions.

John Stephens, the biological father of Sloane Stephens, was a professional American football player. He was a running back for the New England Patriots in the NFL. In the 1988 NFL Draft, he was selected by the New England Patriots.

Sloane’s father, John, won the 1988 Rookie of the Year award and made the Pro Bowl. He spent five years with the Patriots before signing with three other clubs (Falcons, Packers, and Chiefs) in 1993.

Stephens didn’t talk to her biological father until she was 13 years old. He had been interested in getting to know her for a while, and finally he talked to her. However, Sloane’s life changed when John died in a car accident when she was only 16. He died in Keithville, Louisiana, on 1 September 2009 while Sloane was competing in the US Open junior tournament.
