Professional Japanese wrestler and Netflix star, Hana Kimura has died at the age of 22. The Netflix star had appeared in the latest series of Netflix reality show, Terrace House.
Though the cause of her death is unclear at the moment, she was said to have released a number of disturbing social media posts implying that she was being cyber bullied.
Her most recent social media post (Instagram story) featured a picture of her with a caption, “goodbye”.
Kimura was the daughter of well known wrestlers, Isao Kobayashi and Kyoko Kimura. She was also a winner of Stardom’s 2019 Fighting Spirit Award, and was also a cast member on the Japanese reality TV show, Terrace House. Terrace House was suspended due to corona virus.
The cause of Hana Kimura’s depression
Kimura is said to have been the target of hundreds of mean tweets from fans and critics on a daily basis. Especially following an incidence that happened earlier in the year. Apparently, in early January, Kimura was involved in an incident with Terrace House housemate Kai Edward Kobayashi with Kimura’s Wrestle Kingdom 14 ring attire. He washed his clothes while Kimura’s outfit was also in the washer, he then threw it in the dryer, ruining her wrestling attire. Kimura was visibly upset, knocking his hat off his head and leading to verbal conflict. It sent her into depression and after it aired in March, her actions drew criticism, name calling and abuse from social media users.
She reportedly tweeted:
Nearly 100 frank opinions every day. I couldn’t deny they hurt me. “Die”, “you are disgusting”, “you should disappear” I believed these things about myself more than they did. Thank you mother for the gift of life. My whole life I wanted to be loved. Thank you to everyone who supported me. I love you all. I’m sorry for being weak.
