A photo of Miss Ukraine, Anastasiia Lenna, wielding an Airsoft gun made rounds on social media recently, and many people started to infer that the beauty Queen had enlisted in the military, to defend her country from the invasion of Russia.
The model had taken to her Instagram and shared a post, attaching a photo of herself dressed in military gear and tagged with the hashtags, “Stand with Ukraine’ and ‘Hands of Ukraine’.
This image has earned her the tag, ‘Lara Croft of Kyiv’.
However, it has been made known that the gun Lenna is seen holding is not an assault rifle but only an Airsoft rifle, unlike many people speculated.
Airsoft guns are used in physical team games and only consists of plastic bullets that are not deadly to the opponents.
Anastasia reveals that she has been playing the game of Airsoft for years.
After the misleading rumours and reports by people and the media alike, Anastasiia decided to clear up the misconception.
She took to her Instagram page and posted, “Due (to the) current situation, I want to talk! I am not a military (person), just a woman. Just a normal human, like all people of my country. I am also an airsoft player for years.”
She continued by saying, “All pictures in my profile (are) to inspire people. I had a normal life just on Wednesday, like millions of people. I don’t do any propaganda except showing our women of Ukraine are strong, confident and powerful.”
Lenna also shared many photos of herself playing the game of Airsoft and this goes to show she is conversant with the workings of the game.
Lenna has engaged in several Airsoft battles like the Battle of El-Nasr and pictures of the model engaging in Airsoft games date back to 2020.
The model has been vocal about her support for the Ukrainian resistance and she has shown this support through many social media posts including one where she said, “The invaders will die on our land.”
Ultimately, Miss Ukraine is not fighting in the real battles between Russia and Ukraine.
