The deadly wildfires have ripped through Los Angeles, destroying homes, schools and entire communities. Celebrities who lost property include the actress Anna Faris, whose home was one of the many that were destroyed by one of the fires.
Chris Pratt, Faris’s ex-husband, broke the heartbreaking news as he also described evacuating his home earlier this month as the fires moved in quickly. Though Pratt’s own home was spared, he characterized the surrounding areas as decimated, where many of his neighbours, friends and loved ones lost their homes.
Faris, who bought her home in 2019 following her divorce from Pratt, was one of many celebrities who fell victim to the fires. Luckily, she and her family managed to evacuate safe and sound. The couple has a 12-year-old son, Jack, whose school was also burned in the fire.
The fires, which began on Jan. 7, have been among the most destructive in Los Angeles history. The Palisades Fire has burned more than 23,400 acres, and the Eaton Fire burned 14,000 acres. Combined, the blazes have killed at least 27 people and forced thousands more to evacuate.
Pratt said that despite the devastation, she is thankful for the strength of the impacted communities and the assistance they’ve gained along the way through the tough times. As families such as Faris’ now face the long and painful journey of rebuilding, the resilience and togetherness of the community offer a glimmer of hope in the darkness of loss.
