Kayla Nicole has addressed her fallout with several Kansas City Chiefs WAGs, including her former best friend Brittany Mahomes, during a recent episode of Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.
In Thursday’s episode, the 22-year-old WNBA star asked the 32-year-old influencer if she was still “friends” with some of the women after her breakup with Travis Kelce in 2022.
The question clearly took Nicole by surprise, as she laughed uncomfortably and mumbled, “Mhm.”
However, the model made it clear that this was no longer the situation.
“Yes, I was,” she said.
When asked if they were “still friends,” Nicole just chuckled and said, “We were cool [but] we are not as cool as we once were.”
The sports reporter, who started dating Kelce in 2017, explained that the change was especially “hard” due to her close relationships with some of the women.
“That was like family,” she said.
Although Nicole didn’t explicitly mention Mahomes, she and the 29-year-old were once inseparable.
In fact, Nicole was one of Mahomes’ bridesmaids at her 2022 wedding to Patrick Mahomes, who is best friends with Kelce.
The former best friends often vacationed together and were regulars on each other’s social media, with Nicole even forming a close bond with Brittany’s brother-in-law, Jackson.
Even after Nicole broke up with Kelce, she stayed friends with Brittany, even attending the mother of two’s surprise birthday party in August 2023.
However, things seemed to change by October 2023 as Brittany’s friendship with Taylor Swift grew, following Kelce’s relationship with Swift that summer.
Just days after the Kansas City Current co-owner was seen enjoying a girls’ night out with Swift, Nicole unfollowed her, Jackson, and Patrick on Instagram.
Despite rumors of a feud, Nicole later told People that she unfollowed Brittany to protect her mental health — a topic they had discussed.
