I Am is an ongoing series by Chidera Muoka, in collaboration with photographer Niyi Okeowo. The “I Am” series is aimed at showcasing unique individuals – people who are plus-size, have tribal marks, albinos or have physical scars, capturing unique people in their most vulnerable form as they share their amazing stories.
For the fourth episode, Jessica Gordon shares her story.
“I think I am still a work in progress. This is my first public outing with my ear open. I am embracing the fact that this is who I am and I cannot change it. I used to fight a lot because of it. Once, I was going to buy a blade to cut someone who had called me “monkey ear”” she said.
