Gracie Abrams is definitely not one to stay quiet about what she believes is wrong.
The singer recently called out fans who started a petition to replace her tour opener, Dora Jar, with someone else.
According to Billboard, the petition was launched on Change.org after the announcement of Dora Jar as the opening act for Abrams’ tour.
It was initiated under the name Dexter Morgan and claimed that several fans, including Morgan, were “baffled” by the choice.
They expressed confusion over not recognizing the artist and felt it was too late to get acquainted with her “slow-paced songs” before the tour.
Morgan argued that a good opening act should set the mood and energize the crowd, suggesting that Dora’s slower songs might not achieve that.
The petition even proposed that a more popular and “energetic artist or band” should take her place.
Abrams clearly did not appreciate this, as she commented on January 25 in response to Stereogum’s post about the petition.
She wrote, “Just hearing about this absolute ridiculousness… so wildly uncool and bizarre and also just does not remotely add up.”
She emphasized that she had only seen excitement from her fans and expressed how lucky and proud she felt to share the stage with Dora Jar.
The Close To You artist encouraged everyone to check out what Dora Jar has created, whether they’re attending her concert or not. She wrapped up with, “Dora forever and ever.”
Later on January 26, Abrams posted a screenshot of her earlier comment on her Instagram stories, saying, “Hi, reiterating this and then dropping it.”
She shared her excitement about performing alongside her tour opener and mentioned that she loved her.
Meanwhile, Dora Jar also spoke out against the petition.
She tweeted a few reactions, including a lighthearted comment about signing the petition while still keeping up with her rehearsals in case she ends up opening the show.
