Glenn Close’s Daughter Recreates Mom’s Throwback Pregnancy Photo to Show Off Her Own ‘Enormous’ Baby Bump Decades Later

Annie Starke, daughter of Glenn Close, recreated one of her mom’s iconic pregnancy photos while expecting her son, Rory.

On Saturday, the 36-year-old took to social media to share a throwback photo from 1988, showing Glenn Close sitting on a vintage floral couch, lovingly admiring her bare baby bump while pregnant with Annie. In the nostalgic snapshot, Glenn’s mother, Bettine Moore Close, sits beside her, gazing at the growing belly.

Annie then posted a similar photo of herself on a floral couch, lifting her sweater to reveal her own pregnancy. Just like her late mother, Glenn, 77, lovingly sat beside her daughter, smiling as she looked at her bump.

Annie shared these touching photos in celebration of International Women’s Day, writing in the caption, “This #internationalwomensday hits a bit different this year.

She captioned the post, “(Swipe for a recreation of a classic family pic… my grandma, @glennclose & me in the womb… now grandma ‘Gi,’ me & Rory in the (enormous) womb. Aggressive couch fabric patterns included.)”

The post quickly garnered attention, with several social media users commenting, including Olivia Munn, who wrote, “Oh my heart.”

Annie shared the photos a month after welcoming her and husband Marc Albu’s first child, a son named Rory Westaway Albu. This marks a special milestone for Glenn, who became a grandmother for the first time.

Glenn Close, a three-time Tony Award winner, welcomed Annie with her ex-boyfriend, film producer John Starke, in April 1988. The couple had been together for four years after meeting on the set of 1987’s The World According to Garp. Despite growing up in Hollywood, Annie told People in 2018 that she had a “profoundly normal childhood.”

“I’m a little boring,” she shared at the time. “I was a barefoot kid, outdoorsy, never had siblings, but I had cats and dogs, and really surrounded by nature. I credit my parents for keeping me grounded and keeping it normal. I still have my oldest friends since high school.”

Annie has since followed in her mom’s footsteps and worked in movies and TV shows, including playing the younger version of Glenn in the 2017 film The Wife.
