Pieces of Her: Did Toni Collette Shave Her Head to Portray Breast Cancer Scene?

Pieces of Her is a new Netflix miniseries that centres around 30-year old Andy, who goes on a search to discover the truth about her mother.

Laura’s attempt to stop a shooter causes a ricochet of events which led Andy to begin uncovering details of her past life.

Pieces of Her is based on a novel by Karin Slaughter and created by Netflix’s Charlotte Stoudt.

Toni Collette plays Laura Oliver in Pieces of Her. Toni Collette is an important actor for this Netflix series and fans of the show have become very interested in her, as well as Laura-her character in the show. Her character is a speech pathologist and a breast cancer survivor who resides in Georgia.

Laura is a woman with a past and this is evident by her disposing of bodies like it meant nothing, as well as many other sordid details in her buried past.

These details evidently led her daughter to have a rethink about who she may or may not be.

Moving on to whether or not Toni Collette shaved her head to perfectly portray her character as a breast cancer survivor, we will say the answer to this is no.

Did Toni Collette shave her head for Netflix’s Pieces of Her?

Judging by her recent pictures, the actress has appeared in beautiful locks and can also be seen with a full head of hair in most parts of the series.

When Laura undergoes chemotherapy for her breast cancer, it is most probable to think that a bald cap was used for this, or perhaps Toni Collette’s image was altered digitally.

Another option will be for the actress to use prosthetics for her head.

In the past, this talented actress has played another role of a breast cancer survivor. For the movie, ‘Miss You Already’, Collette admitted to shaving her head for the role of Millie and shared that she wanted to do the movie justice.

She said, “I just love the story so much and I think it’s very special and very realistic and relatable and I just didn’t want to fake any of it.”

Toni Collette is an Australian actress, singer, producer and songwriter. She has starred in many movies including ‘The Wild Party’, ‘Unbelievable’, ‘Knives Out’, ‘Hereditary’, and ‘In Her Shoes’ to name only a few.
