It seems that love didn’t last long for Sabrina Vittoria and Steven Smith.
During the Love Is Blind UK season 1 reunion on Netflix the couple revealed that they have decided to part ways.
Sabrina expressed her initial admiration for Steven’s support of her career goals but found that the reality differed from their initial connection in the pods.
Despite planning to split their time between Belfast and London, they ended up in a long-distance relationship with challenging communication, citing inconsistencies in Steven’s behavior towards her and the relationship.
“There was so much I feel in love with about Steven,” Sabrina said, noting that she felt like Steven really supported her career goals when they met in the pods but that wasn’t necessarily the case IRL. “Then, we agreed that we were going to split our time between Belfast and London for the first year.”
It appears that the pressure of long-distance took its toll on Sabrina and Steven.
Steven acknowledged this pressure but denied not supporting Sabrina’s business venture.
Sabrina, on the other hand, expressed feeling neglected, mentioning that she made more efforts to visit him than he did for her.
The couple had not seen each other for eight months, leading to a breaking point when Steven canceled plans with Sabrina’s family shortly before Christmas.
Their relationship, once considered strong, faced challenges, culminating in their separation.
Despite being one of the show’s promising couples, their marriage was the first featured in the finale.
Steven’s heartfelt vows at the altar reflected their initial connection, promising unconditional love and support.
““I promise to always make you my No. 1, to be the hug before you realize you need it,” Steven said at the altar. “You stole my mind, and my heart, and now I give you my unconditional love.”
Sabrina vowed to love Steven “every day and have the patience that love requires on the more challenging days.”
“There’s so much we don’t know, and our journey has just begun, but in your arms I have found a home,” she continued. “I want you to know that I choose you today and every day for the rest of our lives. I love you.”
Besides the distance issue, Sabrina and Steven had differing views on having children.
While Sabrina prioritized a strong marital foundation over starting a family, Steven expressed his desire to have his biological child.
Despite this difference, they discussed options like surrogacy or adoption as a potential compromise.
However, they clarified during the reunion that the topic of children did not contribute to their breakup.
During the finale, Sabrina and Steven, along with two other couples, tied the knot, showcasing a mix of weddings and splits among the participants.
Bobby and Jasmine, as well as Benaiah and Nicole, also exchanged vows, while Ollie and Demi, Cat and Freddie, and Tom and Maria faced the unfortunate outcome of ending their relationships on their wedding days.
