Did Katy Mixon gain weight for ‘The Thing About Pam’?

Katy Mixon plays the role of Betsy Faria in The Thing About Pam- a true-crime drama series that is centred around the murder of Betsy Faria.

The Thing About Pam follows the case of Pam Hupp, who was charged with first-degree murder in 2019- and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Pam Hupp killed her friend, Betsy, for her life insurance money and almost got away with it until she killed another person.

Betsy’s husband was formerly charged with the crime but was later acquitted when he was found to not be guilty.

For the purpose of the show and in order to portray her character properly, Katy Mixon may or may not have done some tweaks to her appearance.

Born in 1981, Katy Mixon is an American actress. She came into the spotlight in 2015 when she starred in ‘The Quiet’, and continued with films such as ‘Four Christmases’, in 2008, and ‘State of Play’ in 2009.

Eventually, she landed the lead role in HBO comedy series, Eastbound&Down.

From 2010 to 2016, Mixon played Victoria Flynn on CBS Sitcom ‘Mike and Molly’. She also starred in ABC’s American Housewife.

To satisfy your curiosity, Katy Mixon did NOT need to gain weight, as she receives prosthetics on the movie set.

Mixon receives up to four hours of prosthetics while sitting on her makeup chair. This arrangement sets her on the path towards looking the part for the character she will be portraying.

Apart from makeup prosthetics, her on-screen transformation into Betsy Faria also includes dark permed wigs with bangs.

Mixon had formerly needed to gain weight to play her role as Katie Otto in American Housewife. She told PEOPLE that she had no issues with gaining weight for a role, “I never let the media dictate my identity, so the fact that I’m a size 14 or a size 2, or a size 8, or a size 4, I kind of rock and roll. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Mixon is set to appear in an American series titled George and Tammy, later in the year.
