TV personality, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly left the United States and moved to England.
A source close to the former TV host revealed to TheWrap that their primary motivation for this move was the election of Donald Trump.
The couple, who got married in 2008, may “never” return to the US on a permanent basis, according to the source.
Ellen DeGeneres’ support for Kamala Harris
Ellen and Portia were among the most outspoken supporters of Donald Trump’s main opponent in the 2024 US presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris.
While many celebrities had threatened to leave the US if Trump won, Ellen is the first to follow through on that promise.
She had famously stated she would never invite Donald Trump on her show, expressing disagreement with his brand of politics, especially his strong opposition to liberal media.
Where did the couple move to?
The source mentioned that DeGeneres has already moved to the Cotswolds, a rural area in south-central England, and her Montecito mansion, located about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, has been pocket-listed or will be listed soon.
DeGeneres reportedly purchased the expansive Montecito property in 2019, which she and de Rossi have made their primary residence.
It’s unclear what will happen with her other properties in Southern California.
