Why The Simpsons Voice Actor Pamela Hayden Is Retiring From The Show After 35 Years

Pamela Hayden, the voice behind iconic characters like Milhouse and Jimbo Jones on The Simpsons, is retiring after 35 years with the show.

She will record her final episode, titled “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes,” on Sunday, November 24.

With The Simpsons, which debuted on Fox in December 1989, now looking to cast for her characters, Hayden expressed her mixed emotions about leaving.

In a statement, 70-year-old Hayden said: “The time has come for me to hang up my microphone.”

“It’s been an honour and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show…

She added, “Here’s to everyone who made this terrific ride I’ve been on possible. Thanks for 35 years!! Be well and happy. My best to you all. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses.”

Milhouse Van Houten has been a special recurring character on the sitcom for 35 years, serving as Bart Simpson’s best friend.

In addition to Milhouse, Hayden has voiced several other characters, including Ned Flanders’ sons Rod and Todd, the school bully Jimbo Jones, Lisa Simpson’s friend Janey, and Chief Wiggum’s wife, Sarah.

The Simpsons is produced by Gracie Films in collaboration with 20th Television Animation.

It was created by Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Sam Simon, with executive production by Brooks, Groening, Jean, and Matt Selman.
