Katie Thurston has revealed that her breast cancer has reached stage four and has spread to her liver.
She explained in an Instagram post that, after waiting for test results, she learned the cancer is now in her liver.
Although the spots are small, they confirm she is at stage four.
Katie, 34, is starting a new treatment plan that includes chemotherapy starting on April 4.
She acknowledged that stage four cancer can sound scary but expressed that she remains hopeful.
She is “triple positive,” meaning her cancer is more treatable, and the liver spots were detected early.
Katie had previously announced she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in February, just after celebrating Valentine’s Day with her husband, Jeff Arcuri.
The couple married earlier this month in a small ceremony with just their parents in their New York City backyard before beginning her cancer treatment.
