What Has Judy Garland’s Daughter Said About ‘Wicked’ Movie?

Lorna Luft, the daughter of Judy Garland and Sidney Luft, recently attended an early screening of Wicked and was eager to share her thoughts on the film.

Judy Garland was a legendary American actress, singer, and dancer, most famous for her role as Dorothy Gale in the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz.

Her career spanned many decades, and she was renowned for her extraordinary voice and acting abilities, which shone through in her iconic performances.

On November 13, Luft shared some photos on Instagram from the premiere in New York City, where she not only watched the film but also had the opportunity to meet director Jon M. Chu.

She started the post by saying, “Hello everyone, I just saw the New York screening of the movie #Wicked, and here is my review…”

She excitedly wrote, “This movie is astounding! It’s epic, brilliant, touching and honest. It is breathtaking to look at … the sets, costumes, makeup, performances, choreography, and the entire scope of the movie, is everything I wanted it to be.”

Luft described Chu as a “genius,” expressing that she told him he “had picked up the torch, the broom, and the wand, and carried it forward,” while also thanking him “for adding to the family.”

Lorna, who is half-sisters with Garland’s other daughter, Liza Minelli, praised Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for their roles as Elphaba Thropp and Galinda Upland, respectively.

She described their performances as “nothing short of magnificent!” adding that they were “honest, subtle, funny, and absolutely perfect.”

She also commended the rest of the cast, including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and others.

Luft concluded her caption by encouraging fans to watch the movie, stating, “Go see it and be taken on the journey of the witches! And buckle up, because it’s one joy filled ride!”

Wicked, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, is set to premiere in theaters on November 22.
