Are you up for a virtual hackathon? Reinvent Hacks is hosting a virtual hackathon called, Corona Hacks. It is targeted at youths between the age of 15-29 from the Carribean, Africa, Pacific and the Commonwealth, irrespective of their coding experience. The aim is to create digital solutions to hack COVID-19.
The youths are required to form teams of 2-4 to develop the ideas they come up with. These solutions must be focused on any of the following areas which are currently affected by the corona virus pandemic:
- Healthcare
- Business & Commerce
- Governance and Rule of Law
- Food & Water Security
- Tourism
- The Creative Industry
The objective are as follows:
- Introduce the concept of digital innovation
- Introduce youth to the necessary digital skills
- Enable collaboration between youth across the world
- Facilitate the development of innovative products and services that can serve key industries in light of the COVID-19 pandemic
- Showcase youth’s talent and ability
- Introduce traditional software developers to the global civic development space
To be eligible, participants must have the following:
- At least 1 software developer in the group
- At least 1 industry expert in the group
- Teams are permitted to submit a maximum of 3 ideas regardless of selected industry
- Teams must be 2 to 4 individuals in total
- Teams must include at least 1 female participant
- Participants must come from one of the following countries in the Caribbean, Africa, Pacific, and Commonwealth
- All participants must be youth aged 15 – 29
