Will TikTok Restore Service in the US?

In a surprise move, TikTok announced its plans to restore services to millions of American users, just hours after the app went dark in the US.

This sudden change of heart came after President-Elect Donald Trump revealed his intention to sign an executive order delaying the TikTok ban.

Trump took to his Truth Social account, urging companies to keep TikTok alive.

“I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark!” he stated.

The executive order, set to be issued on Monday, would extend the timeframe before the law’s prohibitions take effect, allowing for a deal that protects national security.

Trump also assured that companies helping TikTok wouldn’t face liability.

The President-Elect expressed his desire for Americans to witness his inauguration and other events on TikTok.

He proposed a 50% US ownership stake in a joint venture, ensuring TikTok’s survival and security.

Trump emphasized that without US approval, TikTok’s value would plummet, but with it, the app could be worth “hundreds of billions of dollars – maybe trillions.”

The Supreme Court had ruled on January 17 that the law requiring TikTok to cease US operations unless it sold its Chinese ownership was constitutional.

Following this ruling, TikTok shut down its US services, displaying a message that read, “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.”

However, with Trump’s executive order, the app is now making a comeback .
