A tragic incident occurred in Kansas when a wife was seriously injured after being shot by her husband outside an elementary school.
The woman, who remains unnamed, was shot in the chest during a “domestic dispute” outside Cessna Elementary School in Wichita.
Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter in a news conference revealed that the incident occurred after the couple dropped their children off at around 9:16 a.m. on Monday.
The couple, along with their children, arrived at the school via a Lyft driver.
Witnesses observed the husband and wife arguing before the husband shot his wife.
Subsequently, the wife “ran towards the school for help”.
The wife was taken to the hospital with a “code red” injury, while her husband’s injuries were categorized as “code blue.”
Fortunately no children, students, or staff at the school were harmed or in immediate danger during the shooting incident.
“At this point, there’s not been any type of school shooting. There’s not been any kids that are hurt or in danger or anything like that.”
Just immediately after the incident law enforcement showed up at school premises and the school was just down as a result of the shooting.
“I know for parents it can be scary but the fact of the matter is, law enforcement showed up within two minutes of the shooting coming out and it never got into the school itself”, the sheriff said.
The identities of the suspect and victim are still unknown at the time of filing this report.
