Why Olivia Munn Stopped Post-Mastectomy Scar Treatment After Skims Campaign

Actress Olivia Munn has decided to stop treatment to reduce the appearance of her scars from a double mastectomy, a surgery she underwent as part of her breast cancer battle.

Munn, who revealed her diagnosis last year, shared with Access Hollywood at a recent gala that the positive response she received after appearing in a SKIMS campaign in October 2024 made her “proud” of her scars. In the campaign, she openly showed her post-surgery scars.

She explained that she had been undergoing laser treatments to minimize the scars and had future appointments scheduled, but she canceled them all.

Munn felt it was important to be open about her experience and embrace her scars, hoping it would help other women who have gone through similar situations, as well as their families.

Munn stated that her scars are now something she feels proud of and doesn’t want to hide as much because of the kindness and support she has received.

She also spoke about the support from her husband, John Mulaney, who has been a loving partner throughout her health journey.

She said he has encouraged her by simply loving her, being her best friend, and being a wonderful father to their children.

Munn’s decision to embrace her scars follows her participation in the SKIMS campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2024, where she proudly displayed her mastectomy scar in photos.

At the time, she shared that she was “done being insecure” about her scars and hoped to inspire other women to feel the same.

She also shared a meaningful phrase she heard during her cancer battle: “When it comes to breast cancer, welcome to the worst club with the best members.”
