Pamela Bozanich, the prosecutor in the Menendez brothers case, is facing backlash over a threat featured in Netflix’s new documentary.
In September, Netflix premiered “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” a drama series centered on the trial where the Menendez brothers were accused of murdering their parents.
The series not only explores into the lives of Lyle and Erik but also highlights the impact of the case on others, including Erik’s defense attorney, Leslie Abramson.
Although prosecutor Pamela Bozanich has a minor role in the series, she is a key figure in the newly released documentary “The Menendez Brothers.”
This film features numerous interviews with individuals connected to Lyle and Erik’s case, and some parts have led to some controversy online.
What does Pamela Bozanich say in The Menendez Brothers?
In 1993, Pamela Bozanich served as the prosecutor in the Menendez brothers’ first court trial.
She wanted to convict Lyle and Erik of first-degree murder, rejecting their claims of parental abuse and arguing that they killed their parents for financial gain.
The initial trial resulted in a hung jury, and Pamela did not participate in the second trial.
In “The Menendez Brothers,” she maintains her position on Erik and Lyle’s case.
Reflecting on their second trial, where they faced two counts of first-degree murder,
Pamela stated, “When the verdict came back, I fell apart. I was happy they got convicted but I fell apart because they were convicted and I didn’t do it.”
However, it’s her remarks at the documentary’s conclusion that are drawing significant backlash online.
Pamela continued, “The only reason we’re doing this special is because of the TikTok movement to free the Menendi.
“If that’s how we’re gonna try cases now, why don’t we just have a poll. You present the faces, everybody gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home.“
She added, “Your beliefs are not facts. They’re just beliefs. And by the way, all you TikTok people, I’m armed. We got guns all over the house. So don’t mess with me.”
Responding to Pamela’s comment, a person tweeted: “so pamela bozanich believes that erik & lyle shouldn’t be set free after they killed their parents with guns, yet threatens people on tiktok with guns she has in her house if they come at her?
Another added: “this woman made a mockery of their abuse throughout the entire trial and still chooses to dehumanize them to this day.”
“Pamela Bozanich is a horrible person. She got her 15 minutes of fame on this documentary she didn’t have to do that interview and then to tell Tik Tokers to not come after her and she had guns! DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR!!”.
