A shocking incident in Indiana has captured national attention as a young woman was arrested for fatally shooting a man in a road rage incident. The victim honked at her for not moving through a green light fast enough, leading to a tragic confrontation. The woman, Deborah Benefiel, now faces charges of murder and criminal recklessness for the death of Kentrell Settles.
Authorities responded to the scene at an intersection in Indianapolis where Settles was found shot in his car. Detectives recovered evidence of the gunshot and a BB gun, as well as statements from Settles’ girlfriend who was a witness to the incident. Benefiel, the alleged shooter, was identified through license plate readers and stickers on her vehicle, which were later discarded after the crime.
An autopsy confirmed that Settles died from a gunshot wound, with the manner of death ruled as a homicide. Benefiel, refusing to speak with detectives, remains in jail awaiting her court appearance.
