Tomb Raider Series: Is Sophie Turner the New ‘Lara Croft’?

After nearly two years of development, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Prime Video’s Tomb Raider show just took a huge step forward as Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner is in talks for the iconic Lara Croft role.

According to Deadline, Turner is set to play the lead character, the titular tomb raider. 

Turner will be the third A-lister to take up the role of Croft, who originated in the popular Tomb Raider video game series after Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

Best known for her role Sansa Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones, for which she received an Emmy nomination for the category best supporting actress in a drama in 2019.

She also played Jean Grey in X Men films, namely X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. She was previously seen in the miniseries Joan and Max series The Staircase.

Tomb Raider is Prime Video’s highly anticipated series adaptation of the video game franchise created by Emmy-winning Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
