The Barron Effect: How the Trump Family is Impacting Baby Names

The most recent release of the popular baby names has sparked a new trend, thanks to a well-known family. While Liam, Noah, and Oliver claimed the top three spots, a notable name gained momentum in the past year – and parents speculate it could be linked to Donald Trump.

In 2024, Barron was ranked at 1,019 on the Social Security Administration’s list. However, by 2025, it had surged to 790. Many suspect that the President’s youngest son, Barron Trump, played a role in this increase.

Although 790 may seem relatively low on the list, this is the highest Barron has ever climbed. According to the U.S. Social Security Administration’s stats, Barron was more popular in 2025 than in any other recorded year.

As for other names in the Trump family, it appears that the Barron effect does not apply to them. Eric, the Commander-In-Chief’s second-youngest son, has experienced a steady decline in popularity. Ivanka’s name has never broken into the top 1,000, and Tiffany has plummeted in rankings.

Donald, the name shared by the President and his son Donald Trump Jr., has also faced a decline in popularity over the years. While some members of the Trump family have seen their names rise in popularity, others have not fared as well.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen if Barron will continue to climb up the list of popular baby names. Only time will tell if parents will continue to be influenced by this presidential pick.
