Former “Teen Mom 2” star Jenelle Evans has publicly confirmed the end of her marriage to David Eason, declaring her newfound single status in a recent social media post.
The reality TV personality shared several photos on Instagram modeling a short red dress alongside friends, captioning the images, “To sisterhood, love and friendship. I love being single.”
The location tagged in some of the snapshots hinted that Evans was in Arizona. One photo notably featured her posing in front of a banner with the playful message, “Don’t text your ex.”
Evans’ declaration of being single comes over a year after she and Eason initially separated.
The couple, who share daughter Ensley, were married for six years. Evans also has two sons, Jace and Kaiser, from previous relationships.
The separation occurred months after Eason faced a child abuse misdemeanor charge following an alleged incident involving Evans’ eldest son, Jace. At the time, Evans publicly stated her support for Eason.
In a video shared in March 2024, Evans explained the legal intricacies that led her to initially file for separation rather than an immediate divorce.
She cited North Carolina state law, which requires a legal separation period of one year with proof of separate residences before a divorce can be finalized.
“I couldn’t because in the state of North Carolina, you have to be legally separated for a year,” Evans stated in the video. “And you have to prove you have two separate addresses.”
Evans also acknowledged the difficulties during the separation period, admitting, “The problem with that is – neither of us wanted to leave. So whenever I had the window of opportunity that I was able to file for separate and file something called separate by bed and board.”
North Carolina’s “bed and board” law mandates a continuous full separation for a year before a divorce can be sought.
Evans clarified the strict nature of the law, noting that any reconciliation during the separation period would restart the one-year clock.
“If you guys see each other one time – hook up – and end up back together, but then you argue and you’re like, ‘Nah this isn’t going good,’ it doesn’t matter,” she explained. “The clock restarts, so they’re very particular here, which is crazy, so that’s where I’m at right now, and the clock has begun.”
With her recent social media posts, it appears the mandatory one-year separation period has concluded, officially marking the end of Jenelle Evans and David Eason’s marriage. Evans’ confident declaration of her single status suggests she is embracing this new chapter.
