Sydney Sweeney has confirmed she’s working on a surprising new video game movie and a big-name Hollywood director is involved.
This news comes right after The Minecraft Movie broke records, earning $163 million in its U.S. opening weekend even more than The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which opened with $146 million.
With video game movies doing so well, studios like Universal are jumping back into the trend.
Video game stories are having a big moment in Hollywood. The Last of them Us is coming back for a second season, and Nintendo recently announced a live-action Legend of Zelda movie, set to release in 2027.
We don’t know much yet about Sydney’s movie not even the game it’s based on but she is confirmed to be producing it.
It’s unclear if she’ll also star in it, but she did post about the project on her Instagram story, confirming that it’s real.
Sydney, best known for Euphoria, has also made a name for herself behind the scenes.
She produced and starred in the 2023 romcom Anyone But You and the horror movie Immaculate, which came out last year.
