As the festive season kicks into high gear and the excitement of Christmas and New Year’s looms ahead, the last thing anyone wants is to fall ill right before the joyous celebrations. Despite our best efforts to be cautious with our purchases and food choices, recalls can sometimes slip through the cracks, impacting items we already have in our possession.
This week, Suzanna’s Kitchen from Suwanee, Georgia, issued a recall of nearly 63,000 pounds of fully cooked, bone-in breaded chicken products due to a potentially serious safety issue. Partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), both entities are urging consumers to exercise extreme caution.
According to an official notice, Suzanna’s Kitchen informed FSIS that certain chicken products were mislabeled with codes indicating they were free from allergens when, in fact, they contain soy. Since soy is a common allergen that can trigger severe reactions in sensitive individuals, those with soy allergies should be especially careful with these products.
The affected product subject to recall includes 8-piece cut, bone-in breaded chicken portions produced on October 16, 2025, and packed in 18-pound cases containing four units of “Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Portions.” The case code P-1380 126237 B30851 23:11 K04 is printed on the side of the case, with the USDA Mark of Inspection on the label.
While there have been no reported cases of illness related to these products, they have been distributed to various restaurant locations nationwide, raising concerns that some may still be in refrigerators or freezers. If you are worried about potential injury or sickness, consult a healthcare provider, and restaurants with the affected product should dispose of it immediately.
As the investigation continues, retail distribution lists will be available on the FSIS website. For specific questions about the recall, reach out to Dawn Duncan, Suzanna’s Kitchen’s customer service director, or Craig Pate, the chief financial officer. Additionally, to report any issues with meat, poultry, or egg products, access the FSIS Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System online.
In today’s fast-paced and trend-focused fashion industry, staying stylish and safe takes precedence. Whether it’s navigating holiday gatherings or stocking up on essentials, being informed and vigilant is key. As we navigate this recall, let’s approach our choices with care and consciousness, ensuring that our celebrations remain filled with joy and peace of mind.
