Spaceballs: The New One

Spaceballs (1987) has carved out its place in the halls of comedic greatness over the years, with its witty parody of the Star Wars saga. Now, after four decades, Mel Brooks is finally bringing us the highly anticipated sequel, Spaceballs: The New One.

Unlike his previous fan-favorite project, History of the World, Part I, this Spaceballs sequel will hit the big screen as a theatrical release, not a streaming series.

The Star Wars spoof has even won the admiration of George Lucas himself, who gave Brooks his approval and had his company handle the special effects for the film.

A peek into The New One was unveiled at CinemaCon in April 2026, with director Josh Greenbaum and a star-studded panel featuring Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad, and the legendary Rick Moranis.

Gad, who co-wrote the film with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, expressed his excitement for the project on Instagram, assuring fans that they are dedicated to delivering a sequel that lives up to the original’s legacy.

Spaceballs: The New One is set to hit theaters on April 23, 2027, promising a return of the beloved characters and humor that fans have been eagerly waiting for.

The sequel will see familiar faces like Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and newcomers like Keke Palmer and Anthony Carrigan. The casting choices hint at an exciting blend of old and new talent coming together for this long-awaited project.

As fans eagerly await the release of Spaceballs: The New One, it’s clear that this sequel is shaping up to be a fitting continuation of the beloved original, with fresh faces and classic humor that will delight audiences once again.
